FINALLY Tune and Delete L5P Duramax At HOME!

Okay, that was a close call here all right today, we’re going to be unlocking the factory ECM on this 2022 l5p Duramax. I’M going to show you guys, step by step how you can unlock the factory ECM using this HP, tuners ECM, upgrade kit. I’M also going to be showing you guys how you can load your emissions compliant Tunes, verify that we are doing emissions compliant tuning factory exhaust. All right step, one is to disconnect the negative terminals on both batteries. So we’re going to start with this one.
After that, you want to locate the fuse box, which is right here for the 2020s, and we want to look for your ECM fuse. and for the 2020s there’s two ECM fuses, one is going to be location 86 and other one is 78. 86 is going to be your 30 amp fuse and we’re not going to be using that we’re going to be using 78, which is a 15 amp fuse, remove the fuse right there put it somewhere safe. So I’m going to put it in right there all right! Now so from the ECM unlock box, there’s going to be this cable with with this prong right here, go ahead and put that in the ECM fuse slot.
All right, keep in mind notice. The orientation of the wires red wire is going to face towards the engine, and the white wire is going to face outside towards the tire wire that we ran from the fuse box connected to this box right here, foreign just like so, and then all right so Connect the gray cable to the box as well, and then perfect,  and this gray cable is going to go to your mpvi and PBI is going to go to your vehicle OBD2 from OBD2 mpvi,  USBC. That goes to your laptop. So one more time, wire from the fuse box goes to the control box and gray wire from the control box to mpvi, 3 or 2 plus USBC goes to the computer and then mpvi to your OBD2. Make sure you download vcm editor and you want to download the beta version so once you have it opened, if you’ve had it downloaded for a while, just go to download or just go to about make sure there’s no updates found because there’s several updates per day.

I like to always make sure the interface is resynced and then, if this is your first time, it’ll probably do a little firmware update all right, firmware, update, completed close and we are going to do breed vehicle all right. So there’s one thing that the instructions from HP tuners doesn’t tell you is that you’re going to put the vehicle in run position so do that yep. So this is the message you want to get. This module requires an update before it can be tuned blah blah. All right, so you just want to basically go ahead and save this stock file, and then next you just want to make sure you have eight credits on your mpvi, but you just want to hit right vehicle, which also will prompt you to your licensing options.
For us we do have eight credits, so, all right. So for me it was a little. It was grayed out. So we’re just going to resync interface. Sometimes that’ll do the trick show license options:  still grayed out, so I may have to call the tuner it’s been several days later and the reason for that is if you purchase the credits directly from HP tuners the way the tuner that I use.

They do not put the credits in until you send in the base file, because sometimes it um accidentally eats the eight credits, and they want to avoid that. So I had to personally send the stock file to my tuner. Then they provided with the tune files as well as added the eight credits onto my mpvi, depending on your tuner or how they do it. If you bought the credits directly from HP tuners and once you have the eight credits on your mpvi 3, all you have to do basically just have to hit ride and tire with your stock file, and then it will proceed with the unlocking process. Thank you.
All right, ECM unlock, has been completed. We’Re gon na close, I’m going to close this out. Let’S go ahead and turn the truck off go ahead and remove this from the fuse box. All right go ahead and remove that fuse back in the right spot. All right and then for the last time we are going to connect the battery again.

So this is the video of unlocking your ECM. However, we’re going to go ahead and Flash our switch on the Fly, tunes right now so go ahead and disconnect your ECM unlock tool go ahead and put it aside, put the truck in one position again all right, I’m gon na close the door go back to Hp tuners and we’re gon na go open file and we’re gon na hit our new Switch on the Fly. Re-Sync interface. There you go resync completed close. Let’S go on a right vehicle, we’re going to write entire really.
The only time you want to hit ride calibration is, if you get a revision for like tires or something minor, then you can do right. Calibrate there you go tune has been written. I close just going to reset the truck real quick start, the truck make sure there’s no codes or anything like that. got a check engine light. We got ta figure that out real quick and then for check engine light.

We’Re going to go to vcm scanner, we use this vcm editor earlier and the truck is in wrong position. We’Re going to connect to vehicle right there, Gathering vehicle information and then we’re going to look at Diagnostics and info read dtc’s uh and we are just going to clear dtcs. That’S it all right. Let’S see if the check engine light is still there shouldn’t be, and we are good and one way to double check and see if we have. The tunes loaded on here would be hit this, because we have switch on the Fly two three and then four yeah.
So we have the tune, has been flashed on here, so this truck is now tuned. So with the l5ps we have now unlocked ECM from home and then Flash the tunes instead of having to ship off the ECM off to HP, tuners and have them unlock it.
